Exploring the childlike inclination to ascribe significance and worth to discovered items, the Tidal Mobile is constructed through an obsession with collecting. Through the act of gathering fragments of pottery, bones, and clay pipes from the Thames Foreshore, I give new contextualised meaning to something that has once been neglected. By selecting these objects, cleaning, categorising and reworking them, I imbued them with a sense of care and consideration. This process underscores the importance of cherishing what we already have.
